BREAKING NEWS: Fire rages through Riverside Industrial Area (Video)
Fire fighters as well as other emergency services were on scene to contain the blaze.
200 scrap tyres and a truck trailer went up in flames on Wednesday afternoon (August 30).
It is believed a veld fire spread to a logistics company’s property in Albert Wessels Drive in Riverside Industrial Area, and started at around 2pm.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to the manager of the company, the fire lasted well over two hours.
“I was going about my business when one of our mechanics requested that I call the fire department,” he said.
Fire Services supplied safety tips to minimise the risk of fires:- Avoid open flames.
– Keep property free of growth and dry vegetation
– If you are a farm owner, make fire breaks around your property.
– Avoid an accumulation of combustibles in an unprotected area.
– Do not risk making fires in an unprotected area on windy days. Also, try not to extinguish such fires by yourself.
