MUST READ: Post Office says sorry for the inconvenience
The official explanation was given in response to questions earlier this month, after DoT officials claimed the problem was in fact from SAPO's side.
The South African Post Office (SAPO) has apologised for vehicle licensing troubles.
In a formal response last week, SAPO extended its apologies to those inconvenienced by the ‘inoperative vehicle licensing equipment’ at its Hutten Heights branch.
“The vehicle licensing equipment is the property of the Department of Transport [DoT], and is also maintained by the Department.”
The official explanation was given in response to questions earlier this month, after DoT officials claimed the problem was in fact from SAPO’s side.
Irrespective, a DoT technician was scheduled to visit the branch.
Until the system was operational, SAPO advised customers to complete motor vehicle licensing at Newcastle Post Office, at 60 Scott Street.
The system has been offline since as early as March this year.
