BREAKING NEWS: Man drowns at Chelmsford Dam

The diving unit is on its way to Chelmsford Dam.

A 34 year old male drowned earlier this afternoon, while swimming at Chelmsford Dam.

According to eye witnesses, the man went into the water and started swimming.

“He seemed fine at first, because he still waved at some of his friends,” said one source.

Leon Oosthuizen and Johnny Heynie claimed they attempted to save the man.

“We were standing here and we saw something was wrong,” said Oosthuizen.

The men immediately jumped into the water.

“We were about 10 meters away when he went under, and we could not find him,” Oosthuizen claimed.

The two returned to the bank and emergency services were contacted.

Emergency personnel are on scene, and the diving unit is en route to try and locate the man.
