‘It’s by the grace of God that she is still alive’ – attacked woman

A close family member confirmed this with the Newcastle Advertiser, and said the woman's survival was through the grace of God.

After being brutally attacked at her home in Beardall Street on August 21, an elderly woman is on her way to full recovery.

A close family member confirmed this with the Newcastle Advertiser, and said the woman’s survival was through the grace of God.

The incident allegedly took place at around 7pm, as the suspects were reportedly waiting for the woman inside the house.

Although the details of the incident remain unclear, the family member confirmed the victim sustained a fractured skull, as well as a broken vertebrae.

“She sustained the injuries after the suspects used a hammer and other tools to harm her.”

The woman was hospitalised at Mediclinic Newcastle for approximately five days, before being discharged.

Two males, aged 31 and 25 years old, were arrested by police four days after the incident. One suspect is still at large.

A case of house robbery was opened and investigations continue.

The victim thanked family, close friends, medical personnel and her employees for prayers and well wishes.

“God is good and she is alive today. She is an incredibly strong woman,” concluded the family member.
