Women of steel help make a difference
Socio-economic Development Manager, Joe Nowbath said the Women of Steel initiative was a programme driven by the CEO of ArcelorMittal, and served to acknowledge the commitment of women in the steel workplace.
ArcelorMittal’s Women of Steel, in collaboration with Proxa, brought some much needed assistance to various ngo’s around Newcastle on September 29.
Socio-economic Development Manager, Joe Nowbath said the Women of Steel initiative was a programme driven by the CEO of ArcelorMittal, and served to acknowledge the commitment of women in the steel workplace.
“It’s also to ensure their participation and recognition, as well drive equal opportunity.”
The first to receive a donation of food and other essentials was Home Meah.
Thereafter, the team proceeded to Nil Desperandum where a large quantity of food, courtesy of Proxa, was handed over.
“The team was amazed by the hard work and exceptional items being made by the occupants of Nil Desperandum.”
The last stop was at the Newcastle Crisis Centre, where food sponsored by employees, as well as hampers specially suited to women and children were handed over.
The focus on women and children was initiated during Women’s Month, spearheaded by HR Consultant Nadia Essop.
ArcelorMittal was proud to have made a significant difference in the lives of the individuals in the care of these organisations, and praised the organisations for the amazing work they accomplished.
