BREAKING NEWS: Daylight robbery in Vryheid CBD – One shot, suspects at large
Vryheid SAPS and Neighbourhood Watch are on the lookout for a white BMW with three male occupants, registration ND751647, as well as a brownish Toyota Hilux VT with the registration NV33701, which was stolen in the daylight heist.
GUNSHOTS rang out in Vryheid CBD a few minutes ago as two employees from a tavern in Mondlo were attacked by armed suspects who had allegedly followed them to the bank and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash outside Standard Bank in Mark Street.
According to those at the scene, the perpetrators approached the occupants of the Toyota Hilux as they parked outside Standard Bank, on their way to deposit the tavern’s takings, surrounding the vehicle. The suspects demanded the cash from their victims and a scuffle broke out as the passenger in the Hilux disarmed one of the attackers.
During the scuffle, both occupants of the Hilux managed to escape and flee their attackers. However, the driver of the Toyota was shot in the leg by one of the suspects, according to eyewitness reports, and has been taken to a nearby surgery for treatment.

At this point, one of the firearms that were used in the robbery has been recovered. However, the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
