Message of motivation for matrics from the Mayor
Challenge yourself, it's sensible to pace yourself, don't demoralise yourself by taking on more than you can handle
Jabulile Mbele
Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor
The time to seal off the precious school days has arrived and that time is now, this is the time to recap on the past 12 years of knowledge. Remember do it in a relaxed manner and you will be able to instruct your subconscious mind to bring forward the knowledge in your mind. Do your share and God will do His share to guide you through this stressful time.
The major challenge this time around would be to obtain a pass with a good mark in the National Senior Certificate Exam, known as grade 12. A matric certificate becomes a passport these days that can help open doors to both university and the job market.
Matric candidates must avoid time wasters that might interfere with their state of readiness to write their exams. Those who have not been doing well have an opportunity to defy all odds and surprise many. All matric learners should remember that the main thing is studying and nothing else.

The few tips to try and make studying interesting is buying yourself treats and planning your time carefully. Turn studying into a game with others, studying with friends can be motivating and helpful, as you share ideas that you might not have thought of individually. Study somewhere different, studying often gets boring simply because you don’t get a change of scenery.
Challenge yourself, it’s sensible to pace yourself, don’t demoralise yourself by taking on more than you can handle. Instead, go slow and steady, with regular breaks so that you can cope for the long haul.
To motivate yourself to get on with the work and studying, make every thought serve you and move you forward; visualise yourself taking action; small actions add up; meet some matriculants and spend time with them; remind yourself that this won’t go forever.
The Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele would like to take this opportunity and wish the grade 12 class of 2017 all the best in the final exam. This year we celebrate the year of OR Tambo, since the adoption of the Freedom Charter. One of the clauses extracted from that document states: ‘The door of learning and culture shall be opened to all.” Let’s do justice for our parents, our communities and our teachers by achieving a good result.
The municipality urges parents not to exert unnecessary pressure on these young people; instead parents should give them unconditional support that will help change their lives for the better. Good luck to you matrics of 2017.
