UPDATE: Solik couple’s murderer confesses and is sentenced
Xolani Brian Ndlovu pleaded guilty and was sentenced to ten years for kidnapping, 15 years for house robbery and two life sentences for two counts of murders

On Tuesday, the accused 38-year-old Xolani Brian Ndlovu appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on charges linked to the couple’s murder.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to ten years for kidnapping, 15 years for house robbery and two life sentences for two counts of murders.
His co-accused Thulani Moses Mthembu is set to make another court appearance.

Roger (66) and Christine (57) Solik were reported missing from their home in Nottingham Road on February 17.
Police investigations later made the grim discoveries of the couple’s badly beaten and bound bodies, kilometres apart from each other.

The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Langa welcomed the sentence handed to the accused. “We hope this sentence will give closure to the family who lost their loved ones in a brutal manner. I congratulate the investigative team who persistently pursued the matter and gathered enough evidence and ensure that justice prevailed,” he said.
