Volunteers thanked for a successful CANSA Relay For Life
Through the activities that were planned for the cancer survivors and the participating teams, Ranjithparsadh said the organisers had gone out of their way to make people feel special.
The goal of a cancer-free future required the support of communities.
As CANSA’s biggest fundraiser and awareness campaign of the year, the CANSA Relay For Life did its best to bring hope to those who were affected by the disease.
This past weekend, Newcastillians made a combined effort in the fight against cancer by participating in the CANSA RFL.
Neeraj Ranjithparsadh expressed his amazement at how emotive the RFL was to him.
“When I entered a team for Neeraj’s Auto Clinic, I initially thought people would walk for half the night before going home.”
He quickly found out this was not the case.
“The atmosphere was electrifying, compelling people to stay through the night.”
He believed this was largely due to the effort put in by the CANSA volunteers, who had organised the event.
The Newcastle CANSA office closed down earlier this year, which left the planning of the RFL in the hands of dedicated volunteers.
“I take my hat off to the volunteers. They deserve a medal for what they have done,” Ranjithparsadh said.
Through the activities that were planned for the cancer survivors and the participating teams, Ranjithparsadh said the organisers had gone out of their way to make people feel special.
“I learned a lot through the RFL, and even though my team and I had to go through the pain of walking all night, it was worth it.”
Commending the volunteers on their efforts, he said he was looking forward to the next CANSA RFL.
“It was my first RFL, but it was such a good experience that it will not be the last time my business enters.”
On behalf of Neeraj’s Auto Clinic, Ranjithparsadh thanked all the participating teams, spectators, sponsors and the volunteers for making the event a success.
“If we stand together, we can fight cancer and beat it,” he concluded.
