Ichthus reduce, re-use and recycle

This recycling project is not only eco-friendly but also teaches the children about being a leader and a responsible citizen.

What a better way to get children excited about recycling than organising a recycling project at school. Mrs Willemse of Ichthus did just that!
This project was an excellent way to teach the children that they can make a difference as an individual and are capable of influencing their community to make greener choices. Many learners made toys, such as cars, motor-bikes and dolls houses from recycled boxes. A broom, made from a 2l plastic bottle, was also an innovative design.
Three independent judges came to the Ichthus to give each project a mark, whereafter the winners were announced. Congratulations to all the children who participated. This recycling project is not only eco-friendly but also teaches the children about being a leader and a responsible citizen.
All the toys that were made during the project will be donated to the children’s ward at the local hospital.
Ichthus has recycling bins at school for metal, paper, glass and plastic and invite the community to make use of these bins should they wish to recycle.
