Pastor Zulu accused to finally hear their fate on Thursday

The men had posed as hitch-hikers on the morning of March 17. 2015, while the Pastor was travelling from Ladysmith to Dundee to sell perfume.

After enduring almost three years of pain, the family of slain Salvation Army Pastor, Hamilton Zulu, are looking forward to justice being finally served.

Five men were originally charged with his murder. Vusimuzi Themba Mbhele (28), Nala Dlamini (26), Marcus Mthethwa (23), all of Glencoe,  Aphiwe Mtwane (a minor at the time) from Durban and  Bayanda Khosa (a minor at the time) from the Nyanyadu area.

Pastor Zulu’s decomposed body was found in a field on the Sunset Road on March 21,  days after he was reported missing by his wife in Ladysmith.

Later, his car was recovered in the rural Nyanyadu area.  A knife was recovered in the home of Dlamini in Sithembile.

The men had posed as hitch-hikers on the morning of March 17. 2015, while the Pastor was travelling from Ladysmith to Dundee to sell perfume.

Another hitchhiker to whom Pastor Zulu had given a lift to, Jabulani Keswa, was stabbed and then pushed out of the vehicle and left for dead on the Nquthu road. He managed to drag himself onto the road and was later taken to a hospital and has since recovered. He has also laid a charge.

This week the Court acquitted Khosa after it was found that there was not enough evidence to link him to the murder of Pastor Zulu.  On Thursday, the remaining four accused will hear the fate in front of Magistrate Nkosi in the Dundee Regional Court.

Speaking to the Courier outside the Court, Pastor Zulu’s widow, who has since moved to Johannesburg, said the family was just seeking finality and justice after the ‘evil deed committed against her husband’.
