VIDEO: Today’s by-election will determine who will fill Cllr Mtshali’s shoes in Mondlo
The by-election in ward 18 in Mondlo took place today, and the voters made their way to one of three voting stations to cast their votes amid a sea of political paraphernalia.
Former IFP mayor and AbaQulusi ward councillor, Cllr Martin Mtshali’s passing left a vacancy in ward 18, a hole in the hearts of the ward constituents and cast the future of the council into uncertainty.
The by-election in ward 18 in Mondlo took place today, and the voters made their way to one of three voting stations to cast their votes amid a sea of political paraphernalia.
The results of this by-election will decide the future of the AbaQulusi municipality.
Should the IFP win, the party will retain control of the council together with DA and EFF, which the part y has a working relationship with.
Should the ANC win, AbaQulusi will face a hung council.
An NFP candidate and an EFF candidate are also contesting the ward.
