Movie crew visits the Drakensberg

Despite the chilly weather, holiday-goers flocked to the heated pool to take part in games hosted by the actors

The South African movie industry is slowly but surely becoming a force to be reckoned with. Producers and writers are coming up with bold ideas and delivering movies of all genres, not just the romantic comedies we have become used to.

One such daring new movie that was launched on December 8 is called ‘Vuil Wasgoed’. To promote their new movie, members of the cast embarked on a countrywide tour. One of their tour stops was at ATKV Drakensville.

Writer, producer and actor Bennie Fourie was accompanied by some of the cast members at the resort’s warm water pool. Despite the chilly weather, holiday-goers flocked to the heated pool to take part in games hosted by the actors. Promotional merchandise was up for grabs and everyone had a fantastic time.

Bennie Fourie is overjoyed with the response from fans at every tour stop.

“It has been amazing to see the support from people. This movie started as a short film when it won first place at the ‘Silverskerm Fees’ in 2014. We were given the opportunity to then turn it into a feature-length film. This film is a fresh take on South African comedy. I wanted to make a film that my friends could enjoy and I really think that after so much hard work, we really pulled it off. The South African film industry is an exciting place to be in at the moment. There is room for growth and experimenting.”
