Ruined roads continue to plague Estcourt

Despite promises from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, on December 12, that potholes would be repaired, most roads are still in a deplorable condition.

“Corrective measures have been made to meet the backlog as teams have been sent out to repair the various damaged areas,” said Communications Manager Sphelele Zikalala at the time.

On January 2, the Estcourt News again queried from the municipality about the progress and plan of pothole patching and road repairs. No response was received at the time of going to print.

A visitor who spent the festive season in Estcourt for the very first time said he had been warned about the mammoth potholes in Estcourt but:

“I was not expecting this,” he said. “This town has some of the worst roads I’ve ever driven on. During my stay in Estcourt, I was afraid to drive around, fearful that my vehicle would be left damaged,” he added.
