Diehards get drilled at Isandlwana

The ongoing protests in the Rorke's Drift area did not impact directly on the commemoration

The 139th anniversary of the battle of Isandlwana was again a spectacular event with the Dundee Diehard Redcoats re-enacting their slaughter against the Zulu impi.

Watched by King Goodwill and Chief Buthelezi, a delegation of royalty from Malawi, and MECs, the re-enactment also attracted interest from overseas visitors.

The ongoing service delivery protest in the Rorke’s Drift area, which has seen roads blocked by logs and boulders, did not directly impact on the commemoration but visitors could not access the Rorke’s Drift Museum which has been closed.
