Businessman arms himself with a shovel and takes matters into own hands

FED up with waiting for municipal officials to do something, local businessman, Keith Sparrow, armed himself with a shovel and took matters into his own hands on Monday.
Mr Sparrow recruited the help of his general labourer, Simon Makunga, to clean up the sand and rubbish lying along the pavement on Church Street, which not only created an eyesore in the CBD, but threatened to clog the town’s storm drains during the next heavy rain.

“I have noticed how filthy it is in the CBD and have been meaning to clean it up for months,” said Mr Sparrow. “The town looks awful. It is turning into another sh*th*le. Municipal officials earn fat salaries but they don’t seem to be getting anything done, so, I decided to do something myself.”
Mr Sparrow and Mr Makunga were praised by members of the Vryheid community on social media for their efforts.
