
The Madadeni Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 27-year-old man to life behind bars on February 5, for raping his seven-year-old stepsister in March of 2012.
According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Captain Jabulani Ncube, its alleged the victim was alone at home in Blaauwbosch, with her 12-year-old brother and her 27-year-old stepbrother.

“The 12-year-old boy then allegedly noticed his little sister sitting on their stepbrother’s lap in the toilet and reported it to their parents.”
The parents questioned the stepbrother about this incident, which he denied and and subsequently fled to his mother’s house in Driefontein. The victim confirmed her stepbrother had indeed raped her, and was taken to a doctor to be examined.
“It was determined by the doctor that the victim has sustained serious injuries during the sexual assault,” said Capt. Ncube.
The matter was reported to the police and handed over to the Newcastle FCS Unit for further investigation.
“The suspect evaded arrest until the investigating officer located and arrested him in Driefontein on January 17, 2013. The suspect was kept in police custody until the matter went to trial at the Madadeni Regional Court.”
