Bergville traditional healer’s murder solved within days
Family of the healer discovered her lifeless body and a man hunt for the suspects began

Bergville police were determined to solve a murder that had been committed in their policing area. On the afternoon of February 19, two suspects entered a homestead in the Esqhingini area of Emmaus in Bergville.

They requested to consult with a known traditional healer who they had allegedly consulted with in the past. They were allowed to enter the healer’s home. A short while later they emerged and left the homestead.
Later in the day, family of the healer discovered her lifeless body. They immediately called police. A man hunt for the suspects began.

It was established that they came from the Ntabamhlophe area and police searched their premises only to discover that they had not returned home. Further investigation revealed that they could be in the Wembezi area.
Police proceeded there and pounced on them when they least expected it. Both men, aged 31, were arrested and appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court. The deceased has been identified as Mjezi Winnie Nomtshezi Mhlanga (61).
