Heartless thief targets old age complex

" The police were called and unfortunately, they took three hours to attend to the complaint. "

Eventide Home has reiterated that the security of their residents is of prime importance. Karen Glasgow, SAVF Manager, was reacting to news of a break-in at a flat in the complex last Wednesday morning while the occupant was out.
The targeted flat is the furthermost unit, closest to the boundary with the taxi rank. It is understood that the burglar removed one of the windows by cutting out the putty to gain access.
A wallet and a cellphone were taken. The thief replaced the window, but without the putty, and when the occupant returned and closed the door, the window promptly fell out and this raised the alarm.
“It is a major concern that these incidents are taking place. The police were called and unfortunately, they took three hours to attend to the complaint. There has been a major spate of break-ins in our area during recent weeks also at the El-Sol Complex and Mpati Villas.
The security of our residents is of prime importance and incidents of this nature are unfortunately on the increase,” Mrs Glasgow told the Courier.
