Man robbed, strangled and dumped in dipping tank
A man's body was discovered on a farm in a dipping tank used to immerse cattle into liquid pesticides for tick control.
THE Mondlo SAPS responded to a very gruesome case where the Induna of the Isigodini area in Mvunyane contacted and informed them that a human body was found inside a dipping tank in his area.
The body was later identified as that of Vilika Ethrege Sylvester (45), a man who had been accused of theft by his employer three days before.
According to a police report, Kafate Uluru, the owner of Phumlani Store in Mvunyane, had opened a general theft case against Mr Sylvester after he had disappeared with cash, cigarettes and airtime vouchers to the value of R4650 from the store.

An inquest was opened at Mondlo SAPS and, upon investigation, it was discovered that the deceased was murdered before being thrown into the dipping tank.
The inquest also revealed that Mr Sylvester had, in fact, been kidnapped and had not made off with the money and items as per his employer’s belief.
Detective/Warrant Officer FP Zikalala looked into the case and had received information from the Ezibomvu community members about the whereabouts of the men responsible for Mr Sylvester’s death.
It was also discovered that Mr Sylvester was robbed of cash and strangled to death before being thrown into the dipping tank.
Two suspects aged 21 and 29 were charged for murder, business robbery and kidnapping.
They appeared at the Nqutu Magistrate court and were remanded for March 3, 2018.
