Smooth start to voter registration weekend

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, addresses were checked and confirmed

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) across the country called on all registered and eligible voters to help them update the voters roll.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, addresses were checked and confirmed as requested by the Constitutional Court.

The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality had its 117 voting stations opened from 8am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Party agents, Rebeca September and Stephanie O`reilly appointed at the Colita Community Hall.

Locals slowly but surely visited their voting stations and took along with them either their Green Barcoded Identification Document, Smart Card ID or Temporary Identification Certificate (TIC).

Ahead of the weekend, Municipal Electoral Officer (MEO), Vusumuzi Magubane urged the public to register within their correct voting district where they currently reside.

Locals ready to verify and register for the 2019 general elections.

“We encourage you to come and check if your address is correct, and to those whose address has change to notify us of the changes. We also welcome all those who are registering to vote for the first time,” Mr Magubane added.

With party agents present to ensure an accurate and credible voters’ roll together with IEC officials, no hiccups or issues were reported at the time of going to print.
