Municipality faces ‘huge backlog’ for pothole repair
Since the beginning of the year, potholes in Estcourt and surrounding areas have grown wider, increased in depth and also multiplied
Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality admits that when it comes to repairing potholes they are facing a ‘huge backlog.’

This was in response to a media enquiry sent by the Estcourt News on January 29. The municipality had reported at the beginning of the year that material was being awaited and could only be received when suppliers re-open on January 15.

However, since the beginning of the year, potholes in Estcourt and surrounding areas have grown wider, increased in depth and also multiplied. There is little evidence of progressive repairs.
Contrary to this, the municipality says that “pothole issues are being addressed in the Estcourt central business district, residential areas, Weenen and Wembezi.”

It has been confirmed that the material has been procured and despite the major backlog, the municipality reports that ‘teams are working positively on it.’
