Plenty of rain, but no water through Vryheid’s taps

Water to Vryheid is expected to be restored by noon today, according to AbaQulusi municipality’s acting Water Manager, Dave Drysdale.
The water supply to the entire town had to be disconnected early this morning in order to allow municipal staff to conduct repairs to a burst pipe along Utrecht Street.
This is the second time this week that a burst pipe on Utrecht Street has led to water disruptions.

Mr Drysdale attributed the burst pipe to aging infrastructure and said that the repair team was pushing their hardest to replace the section of damaged pipe as quickly as possible.
“I want to thank the community for their patience and assure them that we are doing our best to have the repairs done quickly to minimise the inconvenience,” concluded Mr Drysdale.
