Heavy rain limits access to Blood River

Motorists are urged to take as many streams and rivers are in full flow

Heavy recent rains have seen the bridge at De Jagersdrif, just off the main Dundee/Vryheid road, under water as the Buffalo River comes down in flood.

Tour guide, Johann Hamman, who is today with a party of French visitors from a television crew, confirmed that driving through the water onto towards the bridge is treacherous. The party had no option to turn back and seek an alternative route to Blood River.

The flooded river courses have also made the continuing search for three missing people, feared washed away in a vehicle, difficult.

Motorists are urged to approach especially gravel roads with care.
