Kudos to resourceful Estcourt police

"What I want to emphasise, is that my call was answered in a polite manner, absolute protocol was observed and the officers couldn't have been more helpful"

We frequently hear stories about inefficient service from police but Arnold Zonneveld has a different tale to tell.
What started as a crisis concluded with compliments.

Mr Zonneveld explains: “Last Thursday my domestic helper’s home was broken into at Hillside.”

Mr Zonneveld’s helper lives in a cottage at the same residence as he does.

“The burglars had smashed the back window and stole a television I had given her about two months ago, an intercom device and clothes,” he explained.

A call was made to the Estcourt Police Station.

“A pleasant woman who spoke very well told me she will send someone.”

Half-an-hour later a police vehicle arrived with two officers. Shortly thereafter two more officers arrived in another police vehicle. After taking statements, it was time for Mr Zonneveld’s helper to sign the documentation.

“She cannot read or write so a thumb print was required but the officers did have an ink pad,” he said.

This did not deter the resourceful officers who placed the helper’s thumb into the exhaust pipe and used it to transfer her print.

“It was a beautiful print!” exclaimed Mr Zonneveld.

“What I want to emphasise,” he said, ‘is that my call was answered in a polite manner, absolute protocol was observed and the officers couldn’t have been more helpful. I am very impressed with the service. People should know this because we are always moaning about the police,” he concluded.
