Tragedy narrowly averted as heavy rains and crumbling infrastructure lead to crash

To avoid a collision, and possible tragedy, the truck driver had to swerve causing the truck to crash through the railings on the side of the narrow bridge.

THE driver of a truck has been treated for a laceration to his forehead after heavy rains and the crumbling AbaQulusi infrastructure led to a narrowly avoided tragedy on the bridge between Stilwater and the Landbou Agricultural School turn off this afternoon.

According to reports, the truck driver veered off the road after the car that was travelling ahead of him slammed on brakes to avoid hitting what has been described as a “bad pothole”.

To avoid a collision, and possible tragedy, the truck driver had to swerve causing the truck to crash through the railings on the side of the narrow bridge and come to rest in the embankment below.

No other injuries were reported.
