Final salute to a much-loved couple
A fitting tribute to a much-loved couple
Smartly turned-out policemen and women from throughout the district, relatives and friends joined the grief-stricken family this morning to say their final goodbyes to Warrant Officer Anesh ‘Jakes’ Juggan and his wife, Molly.
The funeral was held at their Peacevale home with both a Pundit and a Catholic Priest addressing mourners. Mayor Richard Mbatha was also in attendance and Tom Worthington Drive inaccessible due to the number of cars parked there as people poured in to pay their last respects to the couple.
Warrant Officer Juggan was remembered as a fearless officer by Col Ngidi, Station Commissioner, and someone who could always be a relied upon to go the extra mile.

His family recalled him as a man who led by example who loved life and walked with a determined air about him. Molly was recalled as a devoted mother, an accomplished baker and someone whom everyone loved.
They are survived by three children, Ramil, Sanjeev and Karishma.
The couple passed on in tragic circumstances on March 23 when Warrant Officer Juggan’s patrol van appeared to have been washed away in the flooded Sandspruit at Landman’s Drift. Warrant Officer Juggan was in charge of farm patrol in the area and did regular patrols to check on security and on the state of the rivers in the district.
A close friend, Ashoak Rajoo, who was also in the van, also died. His funeral will be held tomorrow, Thursday.

Farmers in the area have also paid tribute to the contribution done by Warrant Officer Juggan towards farm security:

From LJ Marais: Dundee Farmers Association.
Our Memories of WO Juggan, or “Jakes” (as he preferred the farmers called him) will always be of a very humble ,friendly and willing police officer. Neatly dressed in uniform and driving a clean vehicle. He gave our members peace of mind. He was always available and came out to help with conflicts and negotiations when we encountered problems. He had a great relationship with many of the rural communities in our area.
“Jakes” was repected as being a fair man, able to calm any difficult situation down . We often would see “Jakes” with his flashing blue lights doing patrols in the farming areas under his control.
He had many of the farmers cell numbers on his phone and answered them by name. If he was not available he would always return a call. He regularly attended our DFA (Dundee Farmers Association) meeting and provided us with valuable information. He was always prepared to assist in any way he could. Our humble condolences to his family…He will be sadly missed by the farmers of Dundee…. On Behalf of Dundee Farmers Association.
