Amongst the elderly from the local church, the Forderville and Colita communities as well as members of the Estcourt Senior Citizen Club members were also invited to enjoy a fun filled programme.
The programme included live music, inspiring video clips, fun games, heart-warming parent and child recitals and speakers who spoke on certain health issues. The first speaker for the day was Physiotherapist Sulochana Naidoo.
She spoke on ‘ A Move to Health.’

She then demonstrated certain passive exercises for the elderly to do regularly to help relieve joint pain and to also help keep the body generally healthy. Whilst demonstrating she encouraged everybody to join her, which the elderly gladly obliged.

Then a heart-warming parent and child speech was delivered. Spirits were lifted with a game of ‘bouncy ball cricket’ between two couples.

The second speaker Tanya Lombard, a nursing sister at Estcourt Hospital spoke on the unsettling yet common problem of heartburn. She advised attendees to stay away from certain acidic foods and drinks and to rather choose alternatives that don’t aggravate heartburn.

Emanuel Frank offered some spiritual perspectives on the closing chapters of life. He said that we are remembered by the legacy we leave. That we should focus on the eternal and not the temporary and that we should die empty, having given all that’s inside of us.

Other speakers offered words of thanks and appreciation to the organisers and guests. These were: Pastor Frank, Mr Naidoo, Mr Deonundhan and Mr Govender.
Mrs Frank closed the programme with a word of prayer and blessing after which everyone enjoyed socialising over a scrumptious dinner spread. Each person was individually thanked for attending and also received a small gift as a token of appreciation.
Needless to say, all the senior citizens in attendance enjoyed an afternoon of fun, fellowship, fitness and food.
Most importantly each one felt loved, valued and appreciated.
