Police seek info that may help them identify body found in Blood River

Sergeant Myeni of SAPS Kingsley is appealing to the community to contact him on 079 696 3560 if anyone fitting the description of the woman found in the Blood River has been missing.

Kingsley police are pleading for members of the public to come forward with information that may help them identify a body that was recovered from the Blood River this afternoon.

The body of a black woman, believed to be about 30-years-old was spotted by a group of men who were fishing along the banks of the river at about 11am.

The woman was dressed in a white t-shirt, with pink patterns in the front, and a cream skirt, and is believed to have been in the river for two days.

Members of Kingsley SAPS attended the scene and called on divers from Newcastle to assist them to recover the body from the water.

One lane of the R34 (at the Blood River crossing) had to be closed off while police attended the scene, resulting in impeded traffic in the area for about 30 minutes.

The body was recovered at 3.30pm.
