Update: 6 dead in crashes on the N3, causing total road closure

Six lives were lost on the N3 today (May 1) in tragic crashes that took place at Van Reenen and the Tugela Plaza.
A crash involving three vehicles at Van Reenen claimed four lives. Two people died at the scene, one died on the way to hospital and another person died in hospital.
Another crash at the Tugela Plaza involved a minibus, a heavy motor vehicle and three light motor vehicles.
Traffic came to a standstill until the scene was cleared.
Two people tragically lost their lives in this crash and many others were injured.

RTI and other emergency personnel were on scene and worked tirelessly in making sure the roads were safe.
It took officials about four hours to clear the crash scenes.
