Litter takes over the original water furrows in Ladysmith

If you look down the embankment, you will see a black rubbish bag and even more litter

The original water furrows in the Poort Road area are synonymous with a terrible sewage smell that wafts through the air and causes many residents to complain about it with disgust.

Now the area is becoming known for another and equally disgusting reason.

Just one look around and you will see paper and plastic rubbish lying all over the place.

If you look down the embankment, you will see a black rubbish bag and even more litter.

“There are businesses that run here and people who live here. It is inconsiderate to just dump rubbish here,” said an unhappy resident who spotted the mess recently.

A municipal official commented that, “We were unaware of this situation and will ensure that the rubbish is cleaned up immediately.” He added, “We have workers cleaning up these areas every day.”
