Good news at last for residents of Osborne Road, Lennoxton.
Residents complained recently about sewage troubles, which culminated in waste water practically flooding the street numerous times in the past month or so.
They said the municipality did conduct recent repairs.

However, sewage and used toilet paper once again flowed down the length of Osborne Road in the days following these seemingly extensive repairs.
Thereafter, the Newcastle Advertiser contacted the municipality for answers.
According to the official response received last week, the status of the existing pipeline beneath Osborne Road was ‘not good’.
“The pipe is small and was not designed for the current capacity, as it is running at designed capacity,” read the municipality’s response.
Officials stated there were many houses connected to the sewage line which were said to have not been catered for during its design.

However, the pipeline is scheduled for replacement in the 18/19 financial year.
“The problem will be resolved once the municipality replaces the existing pipeline, because it can’t handle the flow especially during rainy seasons. The matter will be resolved permanently after replacing the pipeline.”
This will help residents of Osborne Road breath a literal sigh of relief.
