THE ZWATHI community headed out in numbers, on Freedom Day, in a service delivery protest against AbaQulusi’s speaker, Michael Khumalo.
Members of the ward 4 community took to the streets to voice their complaints regarding long-overdue developments within the area.

“We have driven on gravel roads since the dawn of time in this area and, when campaigning for our votes before elections, politicians promise us houses and electricity but this never comes to happen once the elections have passed,” complained these community members.

Issues of housing, electricity, scholar transport as well as unkempt roads were among the top things that were read out on the memorandum that was received by Mr Mnqayi on behalf of Transport, Community Safety and Liaison MEC, Mxolisi Kaunda, and Mr TS Mthembu, on behalf of the AbaQulusi mayor, Jerry Sibiya.

Members of the community said that the speaker had been the area’s councillor for well over 15 years now and that it was time he started to show some dedication towards improving living conditions within this community.
Unfortunately, the speaker could not be present on the day to listen to the complaints, but the community members were informed of the reason for his absence.
