Abandoned house a huge problem in Rose Terrace

Many phone calls have been made to the municipality regarding this issue

Many people living in Rose Terrace are complaining about an abandoned house that has been left in a terrible state in this street.

Long grass surrounds the house, making it a breeding ground for mosquitoes and a whole host of other pests. The roof tiles were destroyed in a storm, and the windows and doors are broken.

This house has been left abandoned for years and homeless people evidently sleep there at night.

Not only that, but residents have found snakes in their yards, which they attribute to the overgrown grass on this property. “We believe snakes are also breeding there, in addition to pesky insects,” said one resident.

IFP councillor Mrs Bhoobun was contacted about the problem and immediately went out to see if she could help.

One resident told the Ladysmith Gazette that no one can even open the front gate of this house, as the grass is so long. “It’s like walking in a bush, so to speak. Hygienically, this is not how we taxpayers should live! Not to mention that people fear for the lives of their children due to the snakes living in the long grass,” added the upset resident.

Many phone calls have been made to the municipality regarding this issue.

Residents can only hope this problem gets sorted out soon.
