UPDATE: Paulpietersburg Detective Commander succumbs to injuries
He was someone you could count on and was always willing to help the family.

It was with great sadness that Vryheid SAPS conveyed the message of the passing of Paulpietersburg Detective Commander, Captain HS Mbatha, who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a crash on the Kambula Road yesterday.

Captain Mbatha and a colleague were transported to Vryheid Hospital after the Ford Figo they were travelling in collided with a Lewis truck that had been travelling toward Vryheid.
Police sources confirmed that Captain Mbatha was transferred to La Verna Private Hospital in Ladysmith yesterday but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Vryheid SAPS have extended their heartfelt condolences to Captain Mbatha’s family as well as his colleagues.
His elder brother, Warrant Officer RJ Mbatha, who works for the Gluckstadt SAPS described him as a very supportive family man.
“He was someone you could count on and was always willing to help the family. Our mother is still in shock over his passing and the whole family is devastated. He was the fourth of six siblings and the fourth to pass away, only two of us remain now,” said WO Mbatha sadly.
Captain Mbatha leaves behind his eight children and his wife.
