PREVIEW: Wheelchair changes the life of 88-year-old Zimbabwean

An electrical technician at ArcelorMittal, heard of the project and decided to submit a request for a wheelchair for his beloved grandmother.

After making a difference in the lives of Newcastle’s destitute and disabled community, the Mobility=Freedom Wheelchair Project has crossed the country’s borders to change the life of 88-year-old Zimbabwean, Constance Gwatidzo.

Joe Nowbath said Constance’s son, who is an electrical technician at ArcelorMittal, heard of the project and decided to submit a request for a wheelchair for his beloved grandmother, who struggled to walk.

The submission was discussed, accepted, and approved.

However, to the surprise of all involved, it was discovered the woman was not living in South Africa, but rather 1 700 kilometres away in Chitenderano Growth Point, Manicaland in Zimbabwe.
