Newcastle High School class of 1988 reminisce over the ‘good-old-days’

Thirty years seem like such a long time when old school friends get together to reminisce.

This was the case for the Newcastle High School Class of 1988, when they congregated to celebrate their 30-year-reunion at the school.

Most of them were dressed in their old school attire, and it was evident NHS had played a major role in their years of school, which subsequently shaped them into the adults they became.

An emotional Ryno van den Berg, welcomed the guests with a speech while standing alongside teacher, Mrs Liebenberg and the current principal, Manny Govender.

The 1988 learners, accompanied by their spouses, gathered in the school hall to talk about how much life had changed, and what it was like being in the school back in those years.

The 1988 Head Boy, Andries Snyman also gave a speech before current Head Boy of culture, Corbin Jansen van Vuuren and Deputy Head Boy, Bongani Hadebe addressed the guests with motivational speeches.

Ryno then surprised guests with gifts to remind them of their visit, before they took a tour around the school, ending up at the sports field to support present learners participating in a rugby match.
