Update: Lions kill livestock after escaping from game reserve in Ladysmith
The farm owners are working closely with the management of the reserve to finalise their livestock losses

It has come to our attention that the lions that escaped from a game reserve in the Ladysmith area this past week killed livestock on a neighbouring farm before being recaptured.
Speaking to the owners of the farm located next to the game reserve, they confirmed that animals on their farm had been mauled to death by the lions.
They added that on Monday (June 4) at around 10.45am, they received a call from the management of the game reserve, advising them that three of their lions had escaped through the game fence, onto the farm.
Over the course of two days, the reserve management made use of a game capture helicopter and telemetry equipment to track and recover all three lions.

The farm owners are working closely with the management of the reserve to finalise their livestock losses, but they anticipate that this will take some time due to the exceptionally long, thick grass and the nature of the injuries inflicted by the lions.
They are very grateful to the management of the reserve for their quick response and commitment to the recovery of the lions.
