During the march the IFP took to the streets of Newcastle to show their distress about the shocking number of Newcastillians who are still without jobs.

The march is aimed at bringing awareness to the IFP’s demands to make job creation a priority.

Among their demands are the following:

  • That Newcastle Municipality (and the Department of Labour), conduct regular skills audits among the youth in our district to determine where skills development is needed.
  • That mandate companies, government institutions and other potential employers provide more internships for Newcastle’s youth.
  • To ensure all employers in our region are committed to the proposed minimum wage of R 3000 per month.
