Pothole problems of Ladysmith in the process of being solved

The municipality has already started implementing what they call 'Plan B'

Ladysmith residents have been complaining for a while about the many potholes that are dotted around town.

With this in mind, the local municipality has already started implementing what they call ‘Plan B’.

“Our area experienced a high percentage of rainfall this year that has created a number of road failures due to water ingress (infiltration). We are currently implementing Plan B (adding resources) that will assist in reducing the backlog quicker,” stated Siyabonga Maphalala, spokesperson for Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

The results of this plan can already be clearly seen, as potholes that motorists have had to dodge have now been patched up, such as the one in Farquhar Road that had the humorous “Houdini’s Hole” sign next to it.

“There are some improvements, but there is still a long way to go,” one motorist stated.
