Teen avoids kidnapping scare

Couple try to lure young girl

A Dundee High School learner is urging youngsters to be vigilant when walking through town and to always walk in a group.

This comes after her quick thinking saved her from a very suspicious situation. The 14-year-old was walking in Gray Street towards town to buy milk when a couple stopped her.

The couple, a tall man and a short woman with a gap between her teeth and one gold tooth, were standing near the AGS Church. The man originally spoke to the young girl, but she could not understand him.

The woman then explained that they needed help sorting out clothes into sizes. The woman said that they had boxes of clothes which needed sorting out and asked if the young girl would help. She said that the man would pay her R140 for helping them.

The youngster, sensing something wasn’t right, told the couple that she was on her way to buy milk for her granny and so couldn’t stay.

The couple was very persistent and continued to beg her to stay. She promised that she would return after taking the milk home to her grandmother, but never did.

The youngster has warned others to not follow strangers or be lured by money as you never know what could happen to you.
