Everything from building rubble to domestic waste is dumped in heaps at the end of Canna Avenue in Forderville, and on vacant land across the road. More recently dumped garden refused is set alight. Among the affected people are the members of the church, Cornerstone Full Gospel Assembly situated at 0 Canna Avenue.

“Most of the time it becomes our job to clean the area, as it blocks the driveway. We also have to be on the lookout for people who dump illegally, many of those times this leads to arguments. I fear this will lead to a dangerous physical altercation very soon,” explained the church secretary.

He added that the sight alone is an eyesore, especially directly across from a place of worship.

This concern has been brought to the Ward Councillor’s attention as well as Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality. Communication Officer Zodwa Ngubeni responded by saying that the cleansing team would start working in Canna Avenue on June 11.
