Thompson Road potholes cause distress

The municipality has responded to this and other pothole complaints by stating that 'Plan B' is in the process of being implemented

Motorists say that the potholes in Thompson and Illing Road are disrupting day-to-day operations, with massive potholes that motorists dare not drive over in fear of damaging their vehicles.

“It is terrible! I’m losing business because of these potholes,” a business owner who prefers to stay anonymous commented.

The municipality has responded to this and other pothole complaints by stating that ‘Plan B’ is in the process of being implemented.

“Our area experienced a high percentage of rainfall this year that has created a number of road failures due to water ingress (infiltration). We are currently implementing Plan B (adding resources) that will assist in reducing the backlog quicker,” stated Alfred Duma Local Municipality spokesperson Siyabonga Maphalala.
