Beware of ATM scammers

Be extra vigilant when using ATM as fraudsters leave no stone unturned.

Money fraudulently  withdrawn from ATM
The ABSA ATM seems to be a hotspot for bank card scams. An amount of R800 was withdrawn at the ABSA ATM and the money, supposed to have been withdrawn by the victim’s mother, was deposited at Pep Store. The money was withdrawn by an unknown person.
Corrugated iron sheets were stolen in Sibongile
A thief stole eight corrugated iron sheets valued at R900 on Saturday morning opposite the Shembe Church in Sibongile.
Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition
A motorist was arrested in the Dannhauser area after police found him in possession of an unlicensed 7.65 mm pistol and seven rounds. The man was also found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police discovered that the firearm license had expired in 2015.
The arrest was made by the Public Order Police (POP) who were patrolling in the area at the time of the arrest.
