MUST READ: Newcastle 911 wrap up the month’s crime stats

Here are the crime stats for June.

-A call was received of a woman who had been robbed in a parking lot of a local shopping centre.
Members as well as a local security firm swiftly responded to the call, and within minutes managed to apprehend the suspect.
All stolen items were recovered and the suspect was taken into police custody.

– Members of the CPF responded to a motor vehicle collision which had occurred in Scott Street.
Both SAPS and RTI was contacted for further assistance.

– Another collision was reported at the corner of Victoria Road and Hardwick Street.
All emergency services were contacted, and two passengers received medical care.

– Members responded to claims of a shooting which had allegedly occurred at a local shopping centre.
Upon arrival it was determined that the report had been false.

-A complaint was received of a house break-in in progress in Suryaville.
Members, together with a local security company, responded to the call, however, the suspect was alerted and managed to evade arrest. Footprints were found around the scene, and the matter will remain subject to further police investigation.

– A BOLO (be on the lookout) was circulated after a trailer was stolen from a local guest-house.

– Another BOLO was circulated after a Mercedes Benz travelling towards Newcastle was spotted, with five possible card clone suspects as passengers.

– A call for help was received after an alleged mental patient was spotted on a horse farm.
Members responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect, before placing him over into police custody.

– It was reported that a teenager was travelling on his bicycle in Pioneer Park when he was accosted by an unknown suspect who attempted to rob him.
The teen managed to get away, but then noticed the suspect had started harassing two females.
Members of the CPF quickly responded to the scene and managed to arrest the suspect and hand him over into police custody.
All cases remain subject to further police investigations.

“If you come forward, we promise to act on the information and use it to combat the crime in Newcastle, together with local security firms and the SAPS.”
