Two men shot dead following theft in Demoina Lane

The two men denied having taken the jacket just before they were killed.

A dispute among friends over a missing jacket ended in two men being shot dead in Demoina Lane on Friday night.

Sphamandla Mtshali and Sifiso Nyandeni were shot and killed at close range by a friend who had been buying them drinks earlier that evening.

Crime Prevention Commander, Colonel Bhekizitha Zwane, said witnesses to the incident claimed that the two men denied having taken the jacket just before they were killed.

It is believed that an unlicensed firearm was used. Police investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this year a teen in the Sasko area was killed and his friend seriously hurt after they were accused of stealing a cellphone. The two were tortured, and even had their teeth pulled out with pliers while their attackers were trying to force a confession out of them.
