Man arrested for rape found poisoned in holding cells
The body of the rape victim was found dumped near the railway tracks with 25 stab wounds and the pants she was wearing had been torn.

MATTERS have been left hanging in the case of an alleged rapist and murderer, who was set to have his formal bail hearing after he died under ‘mysterious’ circumstances.
The police recently closed in on the man who was believed to have been behind the murder and rape of a female who was found dumped near the railway tracks in Vryheid East in 2016.
The woman’s body was found with 25 stab wounds and the pants she was wearing had been torn.

Investigating officer for the case, Warrant Officer Jethro Khumalo said that finding the suspect had proven extremely difficult even after they had found out who he was.
“He disappeared from his workplace for an entire week but might have again come to his senses as he was then brought to us by his attorney,” said W/O Khumalo.
The man was then charged for murder and rape and the case had been postponed for Monday, July 8, but the court case never proceeded.

He was taken to Vryheid Hospital after a brief illness in the cells but succumbed to the illness on Friday afternoon.
