‘Assie’ the Bad Moon Rising… as a birthday is celebrated

Community man, volunteer director of the Courier’s charitable causes, story teller, sometimes photographer and family man, Gerhard Assie van Aswegen marked his 60th birthday in Glencoe last night with a great get together of family and friends.

Assie assisted the Courier with our Mandela Day wors roll and soup outreach on Friday in Glencoe

His son, Gideon, joined in a guitar session around a roaring fire and the pair played some old Afrikaans classics and plenty of English songs – a favourite being Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Assie’ the Bad Moon Rising. Happy birthday Assie and the Courier looks forward to working together with you as you do your bit for others!
