Dundee has seen days of the electricity going off and water cuts.  Large swathes of upper Dundee was without electricity for hours last Thursday after a cable ruptured.

There was another blackout early on Monday morning which again left many residents feeling even more blue than usual at the start of the week.

It is believed that cables that should have been replaced some 15 years ago have not.

Water bursts are common in the Endumeni area with old piping to blame. Following a large burst pipe on upper Victoria Street on Friday, another burst on the corner of Cornhill and Victoria Streets last night saw workmen working throughout the night.

Motorists are warned to take care when driving in that area as only one lane is open.  Water is still off in large parts of town.
