Ripped rubbish bags ruin residential streets

On several occasions, residents from the street place their refuse out on the incorrect days

A frustrating trend evident in Estcourt streets is residents leaving their refuse out on the incorrect days. In most cases, the refuse bags are ripped apart by dogs and the contents spills over onto the roadside.

The eyesore it creates is often neglected by municipal refuse removal staff that ignores waste that has scattered on the pavement. A resident from Salvia Road reported this to the Estcourt News last week.

The resident, who did not want to be named, saying it would cause a conflict with neighbours, says that on several occasions, residents from the street place their refuse out on the incorrect days. Apparently, this is done when night falls.

“The collection day is on Thursday but some neighbours go at night and leave their refuse bags out. The dogs tear it up and then the mess lies on the pavements for days,” commented the resident.

An appeal is made to residents to adhere to the refuse collection schedule.
